| Abstract | Mega-cities of Southeast Asia are experiencing excessive concentrations of population and economic activities. Population increase is mainly absorbed in the area exceeding a 10 km range from the city centres. Land use in the suburban areas is these cities shares common features: a typical sprawl pattern with various sizes of housing developments are dependent on a few trunk roads in a leapfrog fashion. The article will examine both the common and unique characteristics of land-use control systems in these cities and identify their problems. --Journal abstract | ||
