Abstract Surveys foreign direct investment and transnational corporations in Hong Kong. The city offers many advantages to foreign investors: good geographical location, port of entry into China, attractive investment environment, excellent infrastructure and service facilities, efficient port, and established legal framework. An empirical study examined transnational corporations in Hong Kong, focusing on composition of employees, management style of host companies, autonomy of decision-making, research and development, technology transfer, and impacts on the local community.
