| Abstract | Building fire problems during the process of industrial development in developed countries is summarized to survey potential fire problems in current developing societies. Fire experience in developed countries demonstrates the importance of the introduction of standard fire tests in developing societies. Recent development in fire testing and fire science is reviewed to seek the nature of fire tests in developing countries. Advances in fire testing technology and fire modeling suggest the general importance of interlaboratory cooperation to keep reliability of the tests and to establish a database as a basis for the performance based fire safety design and regulation. An interlaboratory cooperation programme that BRI has recently started as the first round-robin on fire growth tests in Asia is introduced. | ||
