Notes As required by the Clean Water Act, states must submit reports on water quality to the Environmental Protection Agency every two years. The EPA, in turn, analyzes these state reports and submits a report to Congress. These reports characterize our water quality, identifies widespread water quality problems of national significance, and describes various programs implemented to restore and protect our waters.
