	Virtual Reference Desk Abstract National Plant Data Center (NPDC) Under the US Dept. of Agriculture, the National Plant Data Center (NPDC) focuses resources on the acquisition, development, integration, quality control, dissemination and access of plant information. The PLANTS database, which focuses on the vascular and nonvascular plants of the United States and its territories. The PLANTS database includes checklists, distributional data, crop information, plants symbols, plant growth data, references and other plant information. Plants can be searched by family or genus, and then optionally by regions within the US. Categories of plants include wetlands, threatened and endangered plants, phylogenic plants, and plants of economic import.
